Rust off the panel, paint straight over it
A gel that stays on a vertical panel while it works, removes the rust rather than converting it, and leaves a surface you can paint directly.
What are you doing now — sanding it, or sandblasting it?
A converter leaves you a black film and a question about what is underneath it. This removes the rust, so what you paint over is clean metal and you know it.
Which one?
- Flat parts, small items, anything you can dip or soak.
- Corrosion Assassin liquid
- Vertical, overhead, or fixed in place where liquid runs off.
- Corrosion Assassin Paint-On
Brush it on. Keep it wet. Wipe it off.
It removes the rust rather than converting it to a black film, it does not strip the paint that is already on there, and you can paint over it directly afterwards.
- Brush off the loose rust.
- Paint the gel on.
- Keep it wet. That is the one rule. How long it needs depends on conditions.
- Wipe the gel off. The undissolved rust comes off with it. Paint over if you are painting.
